WAY Academies now have Micro School Pods

Dear Parents and Researchers,

I hope this email finds you well. We are making some exciting changes to our learning model and I am pleased to share those changes with you here.

We have teamed with Centric Learning and other WAY programs to provide a positive learning experience with online instructors in the 4 core subjects, science, math, social studies, and English. Researchers in grades 7-10 will be assigned to a Micro School Pod.

Micro School Pods are organized in a way that will keep researchers with similar academic needs together. Each pod will have between 10-15 researchers and they will work together with a live teacher to complete projects. It is possible that your researcher will be in classes with researchers from all over the state of Michigan. It is a great opportunity for them to interact with other researchers. The pods will stay together for all their core classes.

Researchers will be given a schedule with specific times to attend Zoom classes. Each live session is 1 hour long and there will be 2 sessions per day, 4 days a week. This adds up to 8 hours a week of live instruction.

Grades 7 & 8 have already begun to participate in the Micro School Pods program. Our goal is to begin rolling out pods for grades 9 & 10 this month, beginning as early as December 7th. The Flint lab experts will still be available to work with researchers outside of the pods and assist with other classes, assignments, or additional projects. In fact, the Flint lab experts should have more time to devote to small group instruction.
